Grupo Piñero celebrates International Human Solidarity Day with social projects in Spain and the Caribbean

To commemorate International Human Solidarity Day, promoted by the United Nations General Assembly and aimed at achieving the first of the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the end of poverty, Grupo Piñero will be carrying out a series of actions in collaboration with different NGOs, foundations and schools in the local communities in the destinations where the hotel group is present. True to its commitment to the United Nations Global Compact, with these actions, Grupo Piñero puts people at the centre, supports human rights and stands behind this global alliance that aims ultimately to help people overcome poverty, hunger and disease.

In Palma de Mallorca, where the corporate headquarters is located, Grupo Piñero will donate food to the non-profit association Mallorca Sense Fam, donate toys to Cáritas Mallorca and organise a solidarity flea market with the Mater Misericordiae centre.  In Tenerife, Hotel Sunlight Bahia Principe San Felipe will be collaborating with Aldeas Infantiles, a children's organisation.

The Dominican Republic is another destination where Grupo Piñero is present. As part of the International Solidarity Day celebrations, the company will be laying the foundation stones for the construction of a multi-purpose athletics track at the El Soco school in San Pedro de Macorís and the basketball court at the María Trinidad Los Cacaos school in Samaná. Thanks to these initiatives, children will be able to enjoy the practice of sport in completely renovated facilities. For its part, Grand Bahia Principe Bavaro will be collaborating with the Mundo Infantil pre-school centre. In Mexico and Jamaica, our solidarity actions will involve the Ecobahia Foundation and Hoolebury Primary School, respectively.

According to Antonia del Toro, the Group's Director of Corporate Social Responsibility, "one of our main goals is to be proactive in the communities in which we operate and to contribute to their development. Through these initiatives and alliances with different NGOs, foundations and schools in local communities, we try to maximise the positive impact of our activity by promoting development, culture and sport.”

In the Dominican Republic, it will be laying the foundation stone for several sports facilities.
